It's my Birthday....about a month ago

Another year passed...another year older. Blink and I'll be sending Mason off to college and dying ALL of my hair to hide the grays instead of a highlight here and there! I'm fine with it...just glad to be alive and healthy I guess. But nobody told that my bones where going to start snap crackle popping this early though! No, there are two times in the year that I look back and assess my life, New Years and my birthday. I think back to the choices I've made, the things I've done, the people I've met, hard times, good times, funny times and sad times...I'm grateful for them all! I have no idea what the future has in store for me, but gosh darn it I made it another year and I'd like to think I'm doing pretty good...gray hairs, noisy walk and all!

On another note...In the LDS church, you can have what they call a Patriarchal blessing given to you. The best way I can explain it is that it is insight about a person's life and kind of an "idea" of your purpose here on earth. It is typed up for you so that you are able to go back and read it from time to time. And just to give you an idea, mine is two pages long and Dan's is four pages long, so it can be packed with a lot of insight! And for some reason this year on my birthday, I found myself drawn to read it and I have to say it was quite fascinating! The person who gave it to me had never met me prior and it's pretty spot on. It gave me a feeling that even though there are billions of people here on earth, God knows me pretty darn good and it comforted me to know that when I do die (as each birthday likes to remind you that that day is getting closer), I'm not returning to a stranger...he knows me and I like to think I know him too. So when that day does come (not anytime soon, I hope), I can celebrate my life and say, "Here I come Friend and Father...I'm coming Home!"

So anyway....I had a great "all about Heather" (as Dan called it) weekend! A night up at Park City followed by outlet shopping the next morning and a Sushi dinner (yum!), then the ultimate evening enjoying live music from my BEST GIRL, Brandi Carlile and then my burning cake with some good friends! Anyway, here are some of the fun photos from our "set the room on fire" candle filled cake and ice cream night! Thank you for another year and a great celebration of my birth! I love you...really, I do!

Me and Dan at the Brandi Carlile Concert! We made it in the photo!

Cake of many many candles! Yes, there are actually 32 candles on there!  And my awesome neighbor, Jenni, made this delicious cake from scratch! Actually, she made two cakes and they were sinfully good!

Holy smoke! Literally...
